Troopers close Richardson Highway briefly in public safety incident

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Richardson Highway was shut down briefly tonight near Delta Junction as Alaska State Troopers dealt with a situation reported by locals as a potential active shooter.
Alaska State Troopers sent out a warning to Interior resident at about 5:26 PM tonight to avoid the Richardson Highway between Delta Power Sports and milepost 270 of the highway. Locals in the area reported that they were warned of a potential active shooter. Just a few minutes later, at 5:32 PM, Troopers sent out a second alert that the highway was clear.
