Second driver killed in fatal collision identified

The second person involved in the two-car Richardson Highway collision on September 14th has been identified as 77-year-old Arturo Maceo of North Pole.

Maceo's next of kin have been notified.
According to reports, shortly before 6:30 pm, a vehicle attempted to
cross the divided highway, causing an accident at mile 353 of the Richardson near North Pole.

One of the drivers, 30-year-old MacKenzie Barnum, was traveling Eastbound on the highway when Maceo crossed the highway from the south side to the north side.

The two cars collided, killing both drivers.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor for either driver.

The state medical examiner's office will be conducting an autopsy.
