School supplies drive will benefit FNSB school district students

'Back to school' can take a toll on anyone's wallet, but some families struggle with getting just the basics.

Madden Real Estate, the United Way of the Tanana Valley, KTVF, and Walmart all teamed up in an effort to gather school supplies to be distributed to families in need this school year.

This is the first year for this event; and even though it was only for a few weeks, the supply drive was able to gather hundreds of dollars' worth of school needs.

Director of the United Way of the Tanana Valley, Bill Wright, explained how these supplies will help children and families in the community.

"These wonderful school supplies will be going to the school district and they will be able to put them into the hands of the children and families that need them most. So we are very excited and we want to thank the community of Fairbanks for bringing in so many great school supplies and providing children with a chance to succeed."
