Rep. Guttenberg pursues broadband improvements

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Over the past 10 years, Guttenberg has been hearing about the lack of internet coverage from his constituents.
As a result of his 'BUILDING BETTER BROADBAND' workshop over the weekend, residents were able to look at the current state of the service, as well as hear from speakers who have created solutions around the country.
Guttenberg says his main goal is to help show what others are doing, and give the people of Fairbanks a solution.

Rep. David Guttenberg; (D) Alaska House of Representatives >> "I think the impetus right now to do this is the people saying, nothings going to happen, I've been arguing with the carriers for years. I'm doing this to put this on the table to show people besides waiting for the private sector, there are public sector answers that have worked very well and that's what this is about. Fairbanks has grit. I want to get it done, they won't do it, I'm going to do it. If somebody won't do something, I'm going to do it. I can't get my road plowed, I'm going to do it. Whatever it is we can do, here's more options, it's a tool, let's get it where we need it to go and tomorrow there will be another problem, we need to solve today's now."

Join us next week when we'll speak with industry experts on how internet coverage is expanding over Alaska.
