Police investigating after woman dies from assault injuries

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Police are investigating a death that occurred early this morning in Fairbanks.
Just before 7 AM today, police got a call reporting that a woman had been assaulted and was being treated at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Shortly after they got to the hospital, the woman, later identified as 29-year-old Holly Morgan Rae Charlie, died from her injuries.
Her family has been notified.
Police quickly identified a person of interest in the case and made an arrest at around 10 AM on First Avenue.
FPD says its investigation is ongoing.
If Charlie's death is confirmed to be a homicide, it would mark the 14th murder in the Fairbanks area this year.
