Police detain suspect after reported shooting, school lockdown

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Police Department and Alaska State Troopers responded to Aurora Subdivision around 11 this morning for reports of shots fired in a residence.
FPD sent out a Nixle alert shortly after arriving on scene, and the event sent both Randy Smith Middle and Anne Wien Elementary Schools into lockdown for the duration of the incident.
A-S-T also had their helicopter circling the area searching for the suspect.
After nearly two hours, Police were able to detain the suspect.
