January 30th Aurora subdivision shooting update

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Police Department has released more information on the January 30th shooting in the Aurora subdivision.
Law enforcement and EMS arrived on scene after receiving a call from a male saying a friend of his had been shot, and the shooter had fired at him as well.
The suspect, later revealed as 19-year-old Benjamin Akaran, was reportedly seen at the entrance of Randy Smith Middle School.
The school was in lockdown at the time and Akaran was unable to access the building.
He was eventually was detained around 1 PM at a Yale Way residence.
Akaran is charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of probation violation in the incident.
There is no update on the condition of the victim who was hospitalized after being shot, but the original report from doctors at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital said their condition was "not compatible with life."
