Funny Fest laughs its way to 17 years

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Glenn Anderson and Jerry Evans lighten up the Interior during the darkest time of the year with the help of Fairbanks community members.
The 17th annual 'Funny Fest' kicks off this weekend with performances Friday and Saturday night at the Blue Loon.
Prior to the performances, fifteen Fairbanks residents were given a chance to learn stand-up techniques from Anderson and Evans in the Funny Fest workshop.
The amateur comedians were also critiqued by Lachlan Patterson, a seasoned professional who will be performing his stand up after the locals are given their turn in the spotlight.
Funny Fest continues next Friday, January 26th, with the 'Alyeska Celebrity Comedy Roast of Bernie Karl,' benefiting the United Way of the Tanana Valley.
Finishing up the fest will be the arrival of famous funny man, Tom Arnold, performing two shows on Saturday, January 27th at the Blue Loon.
Evans and Anderson were happy to share more about this year's Funny Fest.
Jerry Evans; Comedian>>: "So we've been doing stand-up comedy up here for about 20 years, and we've been doing the Funny Fest for 17 years, and it's something we started because we share our love for stand-up comedy."
Glenn Anderson; Comedian>>: "It's going to be awesome, a good weekend. Lachlan Patterson is going to be our headliner, and it's fun to watch these folks start the week with absolutely nothing, and then finish the week on stage crushing it."
Jerry Evans; Comedian>>: "The celebrity roast is going to be at Raven Landing this year, it is going to be Friday night, again, roasting Bernie Karl, but we do have some celebrities, and possibly some surprise celebrities joining us for the roast."
Glenn Anderson; Comedian>>: "Oh yeah, it'll be a big deal, and it's a good fundraiser, and then the second night is Tom Arnold live at the Blue Loon on the 27th. It's going to be pretty fantastic."
