FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Fairbanks police have arrested a local teenager for attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed another teen in the neck while under the influence of drugs.
Police say they responded to a home on Baranof Avenue after a reported stabbing.
They say 17-year-old Travis Heard stabbed a 16-year-old girl in the neck, but she was able to jump out of a window with her small child and seek help at a neighbor's house.
According to a police news release, officers took Heard into custody without incident, and he admitted having eaten psychedelic psilocybin mushrooms.
Police say he told them he had stabbed the victim in the neck "to come back to reality."
The victim is in stable condition and her wounds aren't considered life-threatening.
Police have charged Heard as an adult; he's facing a single count of attempted murder.
