Fairbanks man arrested for attempted murder

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - 39-year-old Vincent Nelson of Fairbanks was arrested last night and booked on charges of attempted murder, and first degree failure to stop.

According to reports, Tuesday at approximately 3:30 p.m., Fairbanks police officers witnessed Nelson and two others pull up to 1215 Bunnell Street, where Nelson confronted the victim, threatening him with a handgun that ended up firing.

FPD engaged in a chase that ended in a residential area off Bias Drive, where Nelson appeared to have fled on foot.

After searching the surrounding woods, with the aid of a state trooper helicopter, police gave the all clear.

Later, around 8:20 p.m., police located Nelson in a wooded area of Birch Hill Road near Shenandoah Drive; he was taken into custody a short time later.
