Fairbanks Four member sues city in federal court

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Marvin Roberts of the Fairbanks Four filed a civil rights lawsuit today against the City of Fairbanks.
It's been two years since the Fairbanks Four were released from prison with little more than their freedom.
The four men - Marvin Roberts, George Frese, Kevin Pease and Eugene Vent - were barred from suing government entities.
Roberts filed a lawsuit claiming Fairbanks Police Department made an arrest out of desperation that resulted in questionable police conduct and manufactured evidence.
Roberts is the only one of the Fairbanks Four seeking financial compensation for wrongful conviction in the 1997 John Hartman murder case.
He says, "I pray to achieve justice in this case and change the justice system so this never happens again."
