Fairbanks Firefighters battle blaze at their own station

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - At around 5 P-M Saturday, firefighters with the city say a fire broke out in the department's garage.
They say the fire started in the engine compartment of one of the department's SUVs used by battalion chiefs, activating the sprinkler system. All active personnel were out on emergency calls and there wasn't an engine in the department at the time, so one was sent from the Aurora fire station and they were able to extinguish the blaze. Damage from the fire was largely contained to the vehicle itself and the bay it was in. An investigation into the cause is underway.
