FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Economic Development Commission held a meeting last night to discuss several topics.

At the top of the list was an update on the draft goals and action plan of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, or CEDS.

The statewide CEDS plan known as "Northern Opportunity" was presented by Executive Director of the Center for Economic Development at University of Anchorage, Nolan Klouda.

Northern Opportunity is a five year plan to lay out future efforts to improve Alaska's economic structure, and help grow the economy.

The goal is to help businesses develop in lower income areas as a way to strengthen and diversify the state's economy as a whole.

"We were here to present on the statewide Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, a plan entitled Northern Opportunity: Alaska's Economic Strategy," said Klouda. "It's a five year, statewide strategic plan to help map out future economic development efforts to help grow, strengthen, and diversify the state's eonomy."
