FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks City Council also approved a resolution for the Brandt family.
Introduced by Mayor Jim Matherly and all of the council members, this resolution will continue financial benefits for the family.
The resolution states that the City of Fairbanks will self-fund the Brandt family's medical insurance using the same standards and guidelines as the Alaska Survivor Benefit program.
Approved unanimously, member David Pruhs asked the board for a moment of silence.
David Pruhs; Fairbanks City Council>>: "We had one of our best give us the supreme sacrifice. Every day our police officers put on a bullet proof vest and go to work. I don't know of any other entity in the City of Fairbanks that does that so I want to have a moment of silence for Officer Brandt and his family."
