Charges Reduced in West Fairbanks Stabbing

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The man accused of stabbing a victim inside his hotel room earlier this month had his charges reduced to a misdemeanor yesterday in District Court.
38-year-old Christopher Turco was charged with attempted murder; but that offense was reduced to 4th degree assault - the least serious offense of its type.
The District Attorneys say they were not able to get the case to a grand jury hearing before the 10 day cut-off. The state plans to return the original charges at a later date.
According to trooper reports, on November 3rd, a man was found lying on Old Airport Road, bleeding from his neck.
Police followed the blood trail to a guest room at a hotel, and found the room was registered to Turco.
After a short foot chase, Turco was taken into custody.
