Aurora shooting victim dies; Charges updated to first-degree murder

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - We start with unfortunate news...
26-year-old Jasmine Lynn States, the victim who was hospitalized after a shooting incident in the Aurora Subdivision last week, has succumbed to her injuries.
Police say family members and Fairbanks Memorial Hospital coordinated cessation of life measures on Sunday.
Benjamin Akaran, the suspect in the January 30th shooting, is now charged with first-degree murder in the case.
He was previously charged with *attempted murder and three counts of probation violation; those charges have now been upgraded.
