Goldpanners win big in home opener

FAIRBANKS-The Alaska Goldpanners had their first home game of the season on Friday night. Fans were treated to some Cracker Jacks, peanuts and an offensive explosion by the Panners.

it's 3-1 game in favor of Alaska over the San Francisco Seals in the third inning and Erick Hutting out of Long Beach State takes one deep and out to left field. That's a three run dinger and gives the Panners a 6-1 lead.

Foursome shoots 109 in 14th Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic

FORT WAINWRIGHT-This morning at the Chena Bend Golf Course was the site for this year's Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic. Every parking spot was filled and every cart was out on the course as 32 foursomes, who were sponsored by businesses, competed for this year's crown but it was for a good cause.

This year's title goes to Todd Hudson, Dave Atlay, Gene Carlson and John Castle. The foursome shot an amazing 35 under shooting 109 total. That's pretty good.
Two teams tied for second both shooting 115 for 28 under.

Alaska Wild beats Fairbanks 49ers in legion baseball

FAIRBANKS-In American Legion Baseball last night the Fairbanks Post 30 or the Alaska Wild played the Fairbanks 49ers or Fairbanks Post 11 team.

The Wild won 13-2 on Marlin Field. Their second win of the summer season.

West Valley's Tyler Christmann threw 5 strikeouts in 5 innings and went 2-4 with a single and a double with 2 rbis. The 49ers committed 8 errors in the loss.

Lathrop's Terrell Ford and North Pole's Carmon Teel both went 2-3 from the plate for the Wild.

The Wild will play Eagle River tomorrow in a double header at 12:30.

Eclipse elimated, Phoeniz to play on in President's Cup

MORGAN, CALIFORNIA-After today's President's Cup Games in Morgan, California one local comp team is done and another will play on.

The Eclipse 99 girls lost 3-2 this afternoon to the Athena Red out of Northern Cal. Jamie Milles and Jozlyn Paneak both scored game tying goals but Amelia Steiffer scored the game winner at the 80th minute. The Eclipse finished 0-3.

Kramer wins three of four events at second All Comers Track Meet

FAIRBANKS-Thursday evening inside West Valley High School's Stadium runners came out for the second All Comers Track Meet this month. Last week was bit of a damper with rain and threatening clouds for it last night was great for running.

The big winner was Ryan Krammer who won the 200, 400 and 800 meter dash. Cedar Gray repeats as the 100 meter dash winner finishing in 12 seconds flat but it was close. Gray was just .2 seconds faster than Kramer.

FAIRBANKS-Saturday morning at 10 a.m. is the 22nd Annual Mosquito Meander 5K race at Pioneer Park.

Then at 11a.m. will be the Midnight Sun Run Bib Pickup also at Pioneer Park at the Civic Center. It wraps up at 3 p.m.

At 12:30 P.M. at Arco Field the Alaska Wild take on Eagle River in American Legion Baseball. The first game is nine innings and the second game will be seven.

Alaska Goldpanners drop second game of the season

ANCHORAGE-The Alaska Goldpanners had their second game of the 2014 season last night in Anchorage and suffered their second loss. The Anchorage Glacier Pilots came away with a 4-2 win over the Panners.

Cameron Pongs got the win for the Pilots throwing six Ks, a walk, and gave up one hit in three innings.He got the win. Nate Nolan had three rbis for the Pilots as well.

Mike Weiland scored both of Alaska's runs and hit a single and double. Scooter Bynum contributed an rbi.

Former West Valley guard to play in Turkey this summer

FAIRBANKSP- Last year we profiled for West Valley basketball player Lawjen Ashmore. She is hard of hearing but was a vital part of the West Valley basketball program.

Ashmore is training at the UAF SRC with former West Valley teammate Hannah Mattson and former West Valley head coach Steve Caciari because in a couple of weeks she will be playing for Team USA U21in the World Deaf Championships in Samsun, Turkey.
