FAIRBANKS-At the end of Sunday's 79th International Bonspiel Greg Persinger adds to his Bonspiel championship collection.
The men's A final pitted Team Birklid against Team Persinger. It was close throughout tied 4-4 in the 6th end after a Team Birklid rally from Matt Birklid, Quinn, Evenson, Atticus Wallace and Ollie Halverson.
FAIRBANKS-There's a little bit of everything going on for you sports heads in the Interior this weekend. In the morning before noon at 11am is the Spring Fling Run at the UAF Patty Center. It's a flat 5K course. There's a suggested $5 donation for the race which acts as a fundraiser for the Lathrop Cross Country team.
FAIRBANKS-The Alaska Nanook hockey team recognize their seniors for the last time tonight at their awards banquet. But once a season ends it's time to reload and the Nanooks are doing just that. Colton Sparrow of the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL has committed to UAF for next season.
Sparrow is showing up in the playoffs with 18 points in 15 playoff games including three points in a game seven overtime win for the Vipers. He has 34 points in 50 games this year. Sparrow is also a former teammate of standout rookie Marcus Basara. The two played together in 2011 and 2012 in the BCHL.
FAIRBANKS-As the snow melts the feet will hit the pavement. The Interior running season kicks off this weekend. Running events are scheduled on pretty much every weekend throughout the spring and summer.

FAIRBANKS-North Pole's Phoenix Copley goes pro. Last month, at the end of his sophomore year Copley inked a two-year deal with the Washington Capitals worth up to 1.4 million as an entry level contract which starts in a year.
In the meantime he'll be with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL after signing an amateur tryout deal.
He'll be looking for playing time after not playing in the AHL for the Hershey Bears this past month. The Bears are the Capitals minor-league affiliate.
