West Valley boys score 11 against Monroe, Hutch girls get shutout

FAIRBANKS-The high school soccer season continues for Interior athletes. The game of the night was Hutchison and North Pole in girls soccer on Monday.

The Hutchison Hawks hold on for a 1-0 victory over the Patriots.

Alexa Rathbun scored the game winner, kicking in a goal after the ball was mishandled by the keeper in the penalty box. Angel Ochoa kept the ball out of the net for the Hawks and gets the shutout. They face Lathrop in a rematch on Wednesday.

In boys soccer a couple of blowouts.

FAIRBANKS-Now some results from a few high school games from the weekend.

In softball the Hutchison Hawks came away with a 11-6 victory over Eielson. Katlyn Schlumbohn went 3-3 with two rbis for Hutchison.

In boys soccer Lathrop won 1-0 over Thunder Mountain. Brent Carlson had the shutout and Braeden Hoppough the game winner.

Lathrop swept the boys and girls divisions in the last high school track and field meet of the regular season. The Wolfpack teams took second while the Eielson girls and North Pole boys teams were 3rd

UAF volleyball lands three more recruits

FAIRBANKS-It seems like there's a trend in this year's college signing period. A lot of teams are announcing signings of three players. Yesterday Monroe sent three seniors on to college and now the UAF Volleyball team will welcome three new players.

This morning the team announced that Dylan Branch, Emily Hartley and Brooke Mattice inked NLIs to become Nanooks.

Branch is a setter from Murrieta, California who played on a couple of volleyball club teams and was second team all-southwestern league for her high school. She will be a bio major.

Good weekend weather for a hodge-podge of sport events

FAIRBANKS-A beautiful weekend of weather for nice weekend of sports activities and there's something for everybody too.

Matches start at 9:20 in the morning for Day 2 of the Alaska Yukon Challenge table tennis tournament at the UAF Patty Center.

For the runners at 11 am is the 6th Annual Alaska Walk/Run for Autism 5K at Pioneer Park.

At 11 o'clock day two of the last all schools track and field meet of the regular season at West Valley High School.

At noon at the South Davis Fields Eielson and Hutchison will meet for a softball game.

Wolfpack keep winning streak alive

FAIRBANKS-Last night at Arco Field the West Valley Wolfpack were looking to keep their winning streak alive. The North Pole Patriots had other thoughts.

It was pitching duel between the teams. North Pole's Tyler Hill was great tossing a one hitter in a complete game.

West Valley's Casey Lewandoskie wasn't bad either with nine Ks and picked off two runners.

The Patriots did get five hits but the West Valley defense had their pitchers back getting timely outs.

Patriots undefeated in softball conference, Ram drop two

FAIRBANKS-There was some softball action at the South Davis Fields last night as well.The Rams lost 17-3 to the North Pole Patriots in the first of two games for Monroe.

Karissa Ramos went 2-3 with a triple and three rbis for the Patriots. Robyn Heineken had eight Ks for North Pole.

The Patriots are now 4-0 in the Mid Alaska Conference.

West Valley and Monroe had the late game.

The Rams rallied a bit with three runs in the bottom of the second. Savannah Mapp, Jamie Haman and Alexa Ellis scored runs.
