Fjare sets new record on the running trails

FAIRBANKS-One runner made heads turn on the trails this weekend. Dana Fjare was the big winner despite finishing second overall in the Granite Tors Run on Saturday. Fjare's time of 2 hours 22 minutes and 45 seconds broke a 15 year old record set by Jane LeBlond who ran 2:33:49 in 1999. The Granite Tors is the 6th race in the Northern Trails series.

Devin Mcdowell came in first in 2:19:51 to win the men's title in the Granite Tors Run.

Alaska Wild baseball summer season comes to end after shutout

ANCHORAGE-The summer season for a couple of Interior baseball teams has ended. The Goldpanners season ended last week at the National Baseball Congress World Series and the Alaska Wild's season came to an end over the weekend.

The Juneau Midnight Suns held the Wild to just two hits in a 14-0 shutout win eliminating the Wild from the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament in Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage on Saturday The Wild lost to the Whitefish Glacier Twins of Montana on Friday as well.

Upcoming Events Tanana Valley State Fair

Coming up this week at the Tanana Valley State Fair. Starting things off on Wednesday Lawnmower racing. Action starts this Saturday at 2pm go check out some lawnmower racing. If you want to race you can enter your mower to race at tananavalleystatefair.com website.
Then Friday and Saturday night head out and watch the Demolition Derby. Small Cars start @ 7pm Firday night.
Trucks and SUVs start Saturday at 2pm. Registration will be 2 hours before the event starts. If you need information concerning the derby action contact Fred @ 907–388–1617.

Yukon Quest

The mushers were out in Fairbanks this past Saturday for the first day of registration. With only eighteen mushers participating in last year's Quest. This year as of 2:30 pm Saturday there has been more than 20 mushers signed up for the 2015 race. This years race is schedule to start FEB 7 starting in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory then finishing in Fairbanks.

Panners Game Two NBC World Series

Goldpanners was in the due or die seat on Sunday. After losing their opening game against the the Mustangs.
It was win are go home on Sunday as the Panners battled the bombers for game two at Lawerence–Dumont Stadium in Wichita Kansas.
Tanner Pinkston got the rally going for the Panners with a leadoff double. Mike Wee–Land assisted with a RBI single bringing Fullerton across home plate to score.
