The Nanooks rifle team opened their season this past weekend in a three way match with Texas Christian University and the Air Force Academy. It was a rough start to the season for the Nooks finishing in third place in the match. TCU won the match with a total score of four thousand seven hundred nine. Air Force came in second with a score of four thousand six hundred 98 and UAF's score was four thousand six hundred 79. Ryan Jacobs of Air Force had the top score of the day edging out Nooks red shirt junior Sagen Maddalena. The difference was one point.

Blue/Gold Pentathlon

Over the weekend the UAF swimming season got started with the Blue/Gold pentathlon at the Patty Center Pool. The Nanook swim team was split into two teams for the meet with every swimmer competing in each event, which is very different from a normal swim meet. The Blue team won the event with a score of 318 to 297 over the gold team. Junior Martha Hood had the best day of the swimmers. She had the lowest combined time from the individual events at just over 5:18.
