The Nanooks rifle team opened their season this past weekend in a three way match with Texas Christian University and the Air Force Academy. It was a rough start to the season for the Nooks finishing in third place in the match. TCU won the match with a total score of four thousand seven hundred nine. Air Force came in second with a score of four thousand six hundred 98 and UAF's score was four thousand six hundred 79. Ryan Jacobs of Air Force had the top score of the day edging out Nooks red shirt junior Sagen Maddalena. The difference was one point.
FAIRBANKS-UAF used some patience and persistence to win another Brice title. Just like Friday Alaska was down 0-2 after the first period but Alaska would scored four answered with three coming in the third period.
Tayler Munson made it a one point game in the second period. Then by the halfway point of the third Alaska was up 3-2 after goals from Colton Sparrow and Peter Krieger. Alaska wins 4-2 over RPI to collect their fourth straight Brice title.
The beginning of a Goldpanners baseball season is pretty much like a pick-up game. Players who don't know each other meet for the first time and immediately start playing.
