FAIRBANKS- Family, Friends, and government officials thanked the most mature residents among us, in honor of Senior Recognition Day. The Parks and Recreation Department hosted the 30th annual event at the Carlson center. Organizers say at least 400 people showed up for the free lunch and awards ceremony. One such award gave Governor Sean Parnell the privilege to be photographed with the oldest attendees, who were 100 and 102 years old. Organizers say many of these residents have lived in Fairbanks for more than 50 years, and have shaped our community.
