FAIRBANKS- A local group wants a firm plan to combat air pollution in Fairbanks and today it had filed a lawsuit against the EPA. Citizens for Clean Air and concerned residents held a press conference downtown their message: the Environmental Protection agency isn’t doing it’s job. Members say a plan to clean up our air as required by the Federal Clean Air Act is long overdue. An implementation plan to clean up Fairbanks air was due three years ago and the group says there is no justification for the EPA to continue to extend the state deadline.
The community groups’ lawsuit was filed in federal district court by environmental law firm Earthjustice’s Alaska office.
