Hatchery visitor center viewing

FAIRBANKS- The Ruth Burnett Fish Hatchery has been open 18 months, but this weekend will be the first opportunity for the public to see the visitor center. The opening will coincide with the Fairbanks Outdoor Show, nearby at the Carlson Center. A large aquarium will greet visitors when they enter the $50 million building that raises thousands of sport fish each year. There hadn't been enough money to staff the office until the borough assembly offered $20,000 to help.
In an earlier interview, Fish and Game Outreach Director, Terry Thompson said the visitor center will become an important component of the hatchery, because “there’s an incredible amount of technology and profession going on and everybody always has questions.”
