Teenager arrested for downtown stabbing

An 18-year-old Fairbanks man is also in jail on a "no bail" status, AND facing a felony assault charge connected to yesterday's stabbing incident in the downtown area.

Benjamin Tumbloo was arraigned in State District Court this afternoon.

Tumbloo is accused of stabbing 49-year-old Kirk Jackson.

Court records say Jackson sustained a stab wound to his abdomen after he apparently refused to purchase alcohol for Tumbloo.

According to medical personnel at the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, the stab wound pierced Jackson's liver, prompting surgery.

The incident occurred in the downtown area yesterday morning, and Tumbloo was arrested near a snow dump near the corner of Johansen Expressway and College Road later in the morning.
