Nenana Ice Classic over

The Nenana Ice Classic has come to close with one of the earliest times in the history of the spring tradition.

At 7:39pm last night, the ice beneath the tripod erected on the Tanana River shifted enough to trigger the alarm set up on shore.

That makes it the fourth earliest time in the Classic's 96-year history.

Organizer Cherie Forness says she won't know the size of the jackpot until the end of the week, and that it will take longer to tell who the winners are this year.
