New report shows men make more money than women

There’s still a big gap between how much Alaska men and women make in comparable jobs.

According to a new National Partnership for Women and Families report, for every dollar an Alaskan man, a woman makes 75 cents.

That amounts to about a 14000 dollar difference in annual wages.

There is even more of a disparity if race is added to the mix.

Black women make 62 cents to a man’s dollar, and Latinas make 54 cents.

According to researchers, the wage disparity harms families and the economy because women head more than 28000 households in Alaska.
