Not guilty pleas for a North Pole couple accused in the brutal, repeated assault of their seven-year-old son.
28-year-old Pablo Crisostomo and 25-year-old Ashley Kamm were arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Fairbanks Superior Court.
According to court records, Crisostomo, who is the child's stepfather, is charged with four counts of second-degree assault. Kamm is charged with a single count of second-degree assault.
Trial in their case is set for this summer.
State troopers say on March 8th, they received a report that the boy was beaten so badly he was kept home from school to conceal his injuries.
Troopers say the boy hadn't attended school since late February, and that severe injuries on his body were consistent with being beaten repeatedly with a cable or lashing mechanism.
