Military reserve members heading to Nome

Medical professionals from the Arizona and Colorado National Guard, Army Reserves, and Navy Reserves arrived in Alaska yesterday to take part in Operation Arctic Care 2012.

More than 250 military medical professionals will travel to Nome for the medical readiness exercise.

Operation Arctic Care, led this year by the Alaska National Guard, will bring health care and veterinary support to residents in the Bering Strait and Norton Sound regions of western Alaska.

The operation is scheduled to run until April 23rd, during which time they will bring treatment to 16 remote locations.
