The state Redistricting Board is one step closer to reaching some sort of conclusion.
The Board has unanimously approved to adopt its Amended Proclamation of Redistricting plan.
With that out of the way, filing a Notice of Compliance and Request for Final Judgment is the Board’s next step.
The Board would have to do that with Superior Court Judge Michael P. McConahy.
The Department of Justice also needs to give preclearance to the amended plan in order for it to be implemented.
The Redistricting Board is hoping to get those two processes taken care of before the end of the month.
If the plan doesn’t get approved by either of the two powers, the Board can still petition to use its original Proclamation Plan to fill the time void until a more permanent solution is found.
