New senior housing for growing populace

The number of senior citizens in Alaska is growing.

Currently there are 10950 residents age 60 or older in Fairbanks.

Raven's Landing was a concept for providing affordable housing for seniors in the Fairbanks area.

Karen Parr, a driving force behind the project, spoke to business leaders today.

She gave them an update on how the final stages are going for the senior housing center.

She says Raven's Landing would not have happened without a vision from many prominent members of the community.

New construction is scheduled for the final section when the snow melts, with completion expected by the end of December.
