The Literacy Council offers a place to play

The temperatures outside are still on the chilly side - and that might make it difficult to get little one's outside.
The Literacy Council of Alaska (LCA) is doing its part to give youngsters a chance to run and play - and give parents, grandparents and caregivers a chance to socialize.
LCA will be hosting a weekly play group every Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. to noon upstairs at Dance Theatre Fairbanks at 656 7th Avenue.
The play group became a reality when Better Beginnings surveyed parents to see what needs there were in the community.
The group is funded through a grant from Fairbanks Families, the local partnership of Best Beginnings.
The Literacy Council’s Elisabeth Padilla says, “The kids (get to) come here and play with a bunch of other kids. They might make friends. For the really little kids it's fun to be around bigger kids. And then for the parents to come, just socialize with other parents."
