FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) – Three days in jail for the long time assistant superintendent for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, arrested last year for his second DUI in less than five years.
During a scheduled hearing this morning, Wayne Gerke pled guilty to a charge of driving under the influence.
He was ordered to turn himself into jail by May 13th.
According to Fairbanks police, last October Gerke was observed driving erratically in the downtown area.
They say Gerke's blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit for driving in Alaska.
It was the second time Gerke has faced drunk driving charges. He was also arrested in 2007 for driving under the influence. That charge was later pleaded down to negligent driving.
