FAIRBANKS, AK-The Nanooks released their hockey schedule this week for the 2013-2014 season. The schedule is a competitive one to say the least.
First game of the year is against the national runner-up Quinnipiac in the Kendall Hockey Classic. The Nanooks will look to defend their Brice Alaska Gold Rush title against Denver, UAA, and Western Michigan.
On October 25th it will be a blast from the past as the Nanooks play Mercyhurst in a non-conference series in the Patty Ice Arena due to scheduling conflicts with the Big Dipper and Carlson Center.
FAIRBANKS, AK-A note for tomorrow. The Yukon Quest will have the Alaska Annual General Membership meeting tomorrow, Thursday the 16th, at the Alpine Lodge at 6pm. This meeting is open to the public and you can meet the board and suggest race ideas. Also members will vote for a new board of directors.
Judy Currier, Nicolle Hendrix, Stephanie Knaebel, Bill McDonald, and Sue Sprinkle are the nominees. Four out of the five will be voted in.
FAIRBANKS, AK-It was cold night in the middle of May for softball which is a bit rare for Alaska but it didn't stop these tough girls. The Wolfpack and Patriots had a double header with West Valley taking the first game 18-2 but North Pole made it a game in the second outing.
The Hawks girls soccer team continues their impressive season winning the number seed in the MAC tournament. West Valley and North Pole boys win setting up a regular season finale clash.
