FAIRBANKS, AK-One indication that the seasons are changing in Fairbanks are the running events.
The Spring Fling, a traditional running season opening event is this Saturday. Registration is at 10am and donations are going to high school cross country programs instead of a typical entry fee.
FAIRBANKS, AK-It's back again. The Martin Luther King Jr., Basketball Classic Tournament gets under way Thursday April 11th and runs through the 14th out at Lathrop High School.
Team from across the state are matching up mostly for the fun and love of the game. Money raised in this tournament will go back into the community in the form of a scholarship for a graduating senior. Balling and giving back is always a good combination. High school seniors are the youngest kids on the teams but after that anyone can get it on the fun.
FAIRBANKS, AK-Over the weekend our local roller derby team was in action. The Fairbanks Rollersgirls All-Stars took on Blunt Force Trauma. What a name and unfortunately they lived up to it.
Blunt Force Trauma out of Bellingham Washington had a dominate performance winning 379-82 and led 205-27 at halftime.
The next roller derby event will be the inaugural United We Roll Alaska State Tournament starting May 17th at the Carlson Center. Teams from Alaska and Yukon are slated to participate.
FAIRBANKS, AK- A mini meet was scheduled for this Saturday the sixth at North Pole high school but it was been canceled due to weather. This was confirmed in an email sent by Steve Zanazzo the activities coordinator at Lathrop High School.
The Big C Relays will be going on April 5th in Anchorage with interior teams like Monroe, Eielson, Lathrop, and Hutchison slated to participate.
