FAIRBANKS- The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and three other organizations are gearing up for the fifth Alaska Wood Energy Conference. The three–day conference is scheduled to begin Monday, at the Westmark and is planned for both individual and community issues. Senator Mark Begich will also participate on Wednesday morning to speak about Alaska Energy. The conference will host many topics including wood heating concerns for rural and interior residents, sustainable wood supplies and air quality. Organizers say there is something for everyone. For the first time, there will be a free open house and special session for the public, Wednesday evening at the Westmark.
