Woman killed in fatal crash after hitting moose

A 19-year-old Nenana woman has died after her car hit a moose and a semitrailer early Wednesday morning.

Ashley Hecox's body has been sent to the Alaska State Medical Examiner's office in Anchorage.

Alaska State Troopers say Hecox was traveling south on the Parks Highway near Nenana when she hit an adult cow moose that came onto the highway from the opposing lane. The force of the collision sent her car under a trailer being pulled by a semi traveling the other way. Troopers say the car went into the truck's back axles.

Another semitrailer hit the crash debris. Both trucks were damaged, but neither semitrailer driver was hurt.
