Wolter brothers commit to Wisconsin hockey program

FAIRBANKS-Two brothers will back on the ice this fall as teammates. Colton and Jacob Wolter verbally committed to play their college hockey for the BlueGolds of the University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire.

The BlueGolds are a Division III program in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The BlueGolds won the NCAA title in 2013 and have won the last two WIAC championships.

The twins faced off against each other in the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Kenai River Brown Bears games this season. Jacob appeared in 26 games with seven points for the Brown Bears in his last year of junior hockey.

Colton is a two-time Robbie Cup champion and career highs in regular season points with 51 and seven in the playoffs for the Ice Dogs to close out his four year career. He also led the Ice Dogs in assists (39) last year.
