WNR has first race of the season last night

FAIRBANKS-Last night it finally happened. After delay, after delay, the Wednesday Night Race Series had its first race of the season. 15 skiers came out and endured the whipping Wednesday night winds on Birch Hill to take part in this friendly local race series.

Dash Feierabend came in first at the end of the 5K mass start in12:37. Max Kaufman was second and Dave Edic was third. Edic was also first for the master's class.

Shalane Frost was first for the women in 14:08. It was her first WNR and she had a great time.

"Oh, it was fun.  I'm still working on my technique so, just try to keep my skis slippery-side down and it's a good race," Frost said.

"It's nice to finally get back out here and see all of my ski buddies back on the trail," Feierabend said. "It's a little windy but that's how it is on Wednesday nights, so yeah, it's great to be back out here."
