Wildfire ignites from a vehicle blaze off of Nordale Rd. in North Pole

Winds and tender dry conditions are keeping firefighters in the area busy.

The Florice fire started this afternoon near Peede and Nordale roads.

Fire Personnel received the call at 5:17pm that a truck had caught fire which then spread to the nearby trees and moss and began to burn out of control.

The 5-acre blaze threatened multiple homes in the area and residents were evacuated by The North Star Fire Department.

As of news time the evacuation was lifted and the fire was contained but, officials ask residents to hold off returning to their homes.

At the time of the fire there were also three other active fires, 2 on Chena Hot Springs Road and one near the Skinny Dicks Halfway Inn.
