Wild draw first blood in best of 5 series.

The Wenatchee Wild and Fairbanks Ice Dogs were locked in a tight defensive struggle for the first 40 minutes of the first game of their best of five series.

An unassisted goal by Wenatchee's David Mead, was all the hosts needed to go up 1-0 in the series.

Mead's goal, at 17:49 of the third period proved to be the game winner, as the Wild secured a 1-0 victory Friday evening in Wenatchee, Washington.

Fairbanks goalie Steve Perry stopped 16 of the 17 shots on goal he faced.

Game Two is set for Saturday evening 6:05 pm AKDT.
