FAIRBANKS-Over the weekend the Region VI tennis titles were decided in day two on the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts.
The Wolfpack win another region title tallying 11 points but North Pole finished second with nine points which was their best finish ever at regionals. Lathrop was third, followed by Monroe and Hutch.
A couple of upsets on day two of regionals as Lathrop's James Kardash and Aex Jordan defeated Monroe's Nathaniel Brose and Sebastian Griffin 6-1, 6-3 for the boys doubles title. That was the first loss of the year for Griffin and Brose.
West Valley's Teresa Sample and Harrison Alford beat number one seed Rachel Jordan and Brett Carlson 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 for the mixed doubles title.
Jared Lees won the boys singles title going undefeated through the regular season.
North Pole won the girls singles title courtesy of Dana Lemay while Lydia Bjornstad and Leona Sawyer won the girls doubles title for the Patriots.
Monroe's Ryan Burk took third in boys singles going almost three hours with Lathrop's Sam Greenberg for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.
Jaimy Schwarber took third in girls singles for the Lathrop Malemutes.
The teams now prepare for the state championships which start Friday morning Oct 11 at the Alaska Clubs in Anchorage.
