West Valley sweeps North Pole, Hutch sweeps

FAIRBANKS-Last night in high school hoops in the MAC conference North Pole Patriots and West Valley Wolfpack faced off and two players had some great individual performances.

West Valley's Travon Brackett and Khalil Steward went point for point in the first half.

Brackett scored West Valley's first seven points and Steward had North Pole's first eight.

Brackett had 16 points in the first half as the Wolfpack hit 4 threes in the second quarter and led by eight but Steward had 25 in the first half and brought North Pole within 33-37 at the break.

The second half was Déjà vu for North Pole as the Wolfpack again pulled away in the third. West Valley outscored the Patriots 27-9 in the 3rd and cruise to a 86-49 win.

The Wolfpack had 11 players score. Daniel Hornbuckle had 16 but Brackett had 28 points to lead the Wolfpack.

The man of the night was Steward who finished with a career high 35 points.

Brackett scored 35 against Seward and Hornbuckle had 36 against Juneau. These Interior players have some of the top scoring outputs in 4A basketball this season.

The girls game was all West Valley. Ruthy Hebard had 14 points in her return from a concussion to lead three other Wolfpack pack players in double figures including Carlee Marquess who had 11 points.

Alix Parker had five points for North Pole but West Valley rolls and rolls hard with a 62-10 conference win over the Patriots.

In other high school bball scores the Hutchison Hawks swept the Eielson Ravens last night.

The girls won 49-37 led by Kiana Edwards 14 points. Larissa Franklin had a game high 16 points for Eielson.

The Hutch boys came away with a win over the Ravens 86-49 after leading 49-17 at the half.
