West Valley girls lose state soccer tournament opener

EAGLE RIVER, AK-West Valley Wolfpack girls soccer team had their opening game in the ASAA State Soccer tournament today against Colony at 2 o'clock at Eagle River High School. Unfortunately for the Wolfpack they will not be going back to the state championship game like last season.

Colony had a two lead at half time but West Valley dominated in the second half in their comeback effort with Audrey Wade scoring for the Wolfpack. Maddison Ackiss scored what would have been the game tying goal but the refs called offsides negating the score. Colony holds on for a 2-1 win over West Valley.

Wolfpack will play the loser of the Thunder Mountain service game tomorrow at noon at Eagle River High School.

The North Pole Patriots boys soccer team will play West Anchorage later this evening at Eagle River High School.
