West Valley girls finish fourth in Dimond Lady Lynx Shootout

ANCHORAGE-In the last day of action in the Dimond Lady Lynx Shootout the West Valley closed out with a 40-34 win over defending 4A state champion Wasilla in the fourth place game in the Gold bracket.

The Wolfpack stifled the Warriors holding them to a 23 percent shooting clip. West Valley allowed only one double digit quarter of scoring from Wasilla as well. The Wolfpack had a plus 18 advantage on the boards.

Ruthy Hebard spearheaded the West Valley attack once again with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Amber Szmyd scored 11 points on 5-7 shooting for the Wolfpack and Carlee Marques added 10 in the contest.

The Wolfpack went 3-1 in the tournament. Hebard was named the Dimond Lady Lynx Shootout MVP with doubles doubles in three of her four games including two 20 points, 20 rebounds games.

Lathrop defeated North Pole 58-36 for their only win of the tournament. Kimi Duffield scored 18 points to lead Lathrop.

The West Eagles won a close won over host Dimond 49-47 to win the tournament title.
