West Valley ends drought, wins MAC Hockey Title

FAIRBANKS, Ak-West Valley finally beats Lathrop in the game that really counted. The Mid Alaska Conference championship game. It had everything a classic game has: energy, scoring, physicality, ups, downs, and controversy.

West Valley survived a furious rally by the Malemutes as they game extended intro two overtimes. The Wolfpack were up 2-0 going into the second period. It looked as if West Valley would win decisively but Lathrop answered with two goals of their own in the second period.

Both goal tenders out on a show with save after save after save. Then in the second overtime Lathrop found the back of the net and celebration ensued. Helmets and sticks scattered the ice as Lathrop celebrated but it was premature as the refs disallowed the goal. West Valley would score a few minutes later to officially win this epic game.
