FAIRBANKS, AK-In today's WEIO action there were two finals. The Indian Stick Pull and the Ear Pull.
For the ladies Brittany Woods of Fairbanks lost in the second round but gained momentum with victories and came away with the win over Sara Greene for back to back titles. Christian Glenzel was third.
For the men Chris Warrior from Wasilla improved from third to first in a year's time. Warrior had to overcome Walter Johnson for the crown. Charles Teter was third.
There were also prelims in the two foot high kick. Erica Meckel will look to repeat but Autumn Ridley will be on her heels. On the men's side David Thomas will hope to defend his title against a field that includes Elijah Cabinboy and other hopefuls.
The Ear Pull finals had ears burning and bleeding a bit. Misti Evans of Fairbanks was calm cool and collected given the intensity of this event that's a test of pain. Michelle Strange was runner up for the second year as Evans won for the first since 2010.
James Lampe Jr. overcame a competitive field for his third title in a row. It was the usual suspects in the finals with Andrew Demientieff and Leroy Shangin. Lampe out pulled Shangin for the title.
