FAIRBANKS-Here are some sports events happening this weekend. There will be mud and destruction. The Mitchell Raceway will have a demolition derby at 2 PM this Saturday. Go out and see who will survive. The GFRA will have cars from its Gladiator bump to pass class always a fan favorite. This Sunday Parish racing will have its third of four mud bogging events at 1 PM at the North Pole Speedway.
Saturday morning high school runners can run in the West Valley Invite. It starts 10 am at West Ridge and UAF. Freshman boys and girls will run first, then varsity girls at 10:30 and varsity boys at 11. No official results will be kept.
For the adult runners try your hand at the Granite Tors Trail Run. The 15 mile trek starts at 10 am and 11 am at 39 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road.
Lastly, the Alaska International Senior Games concludes over the weekend with events all day Saturday and Sunday.
The closing ceremony will be Sunday at 6:30 pm on the Riverboat Discovery.
