Warm Weather Rekindles Mississippi Fire

FAIRBANKS- The recent warm temperatures have rekindled the Mississippi Fire near Delta Junction. A spokesperson with the Alaska Fire Service says it expanded to 300 acres and crossed a bulldozer line. The fire is more than two miles from Whitestone Farms and officials don’t expect it will spread that far. A 10-member Alaska Fire Service crew responded to the fire Monday. Temperatures reached 62 degrees in Delta Junction, which was 19 degrees higher than the previous record. Winds gusted to 63 miles per hour.
